All the surface coatings and treatments

Surface coatings and treatments allow us to modify mechanical, chemical, thermal, electric or aesthetic properties of fastenings to improve function capacity. They affect metals as much as other materials.

back to topCorrosion Protection

Corrosion is a well-known issue: iron and steel rust, copper turns green and zinc turns white. These various forms of oxidation deteriorate the metal which no longer fulfils its function correctly. Maintenance can therefore be expensive and sometimes inefficient. Regarding mechanical fastenings, corrosion entails risks of jamming and the loss of mechanical liaison: reducing resistance, increasing slackening, loosening and the appearance of cracks. Anticorrosion treatments represent a large section of surface coatings and the numerous standards which cover protection against corrosion, notably the NF E25-032 standard, is used to calculate, foresee and anticipate the capacity of a metal to conserve its functional aptitude in corrosive environments.

back to topAnti-wear protection

Following anticorrosion, anti-wear protection is the second most important surface treatment. Wear is mainly the result of erosion to which some parts of an object in contact with another object in movement can be subject. It concerns numerous fastenings for which certain surface treatments or coatings manage to reduce abrasion connected to rubbing and can therefore prolong use.
